What to do about Aging Hair

Is the number of grey hairs in your comb or in your head increasing at an alarming rate? Are you someone who was formerly proud of your crowning glory but is lately feeling a little less prideful? Well, join the club. One of the most notable signs of aging is the changes it causes to your hair. That because as we age our hair slows down its natural production of oils that keep it shiny, healthy and lustrous. The fact is that the signs of aging hair go beyond simply graying. Here are some other signs of aging hair and how you can age-proof your hair using, among other things, our anti-aging hair products.

Thinness:It is estimated by some hair care specialist that as we age we lose on average about 100 hairs a day. This phenomenon occurs in both men and women and is caused by shrinking hair follicles. This can be particularly distressing in women because of the cultural expectation that women must have a full head of hair.

Dryness: Over time, our oil glands shrink making them less efficient in nourishing our hair. The result is hair that is dry and fragile. A practical remedy for this is to add oil to your hair in order to help keep it moisturized.

Brittleness: Aging hair is easily damaged and subject to breaking, splitting, etc. Often, hair can also be damaged by using the wrong hair care products and an improper diet as well. (A lack of biotin, for example, can lead to brittle hair.)

What you can do to combat aging hair

Just because changes to our hair are inevitable to a certain degree does not mean that all is lost. There are many things that can be done to age-proof our hair. Just as you would apply your anti-aging wrinkle cream to delay the signs of aging skin, you should also consider the effects aging may have on your hair as well. Apart from that, look seriously at your diet as a contributing factor to aging hair. Are you getting enough water? Are you taking enough vitamins such as C, E, B7, B3 and biotin? If you are not you should be. Next, avoid harsh chemicals such as bleaches that may be damaging to your hair. Also, avoid hot showers as they tend to strip the natural oils from your hair. Try washing your hair with warm water instead. Finally, remember to moisturize your hair regularly as you would your skin with products such as coconut oil, Argan oil and our anti-aging hair products.
