Spring Skin Care Tips

shutterstock_116057410Spring is here, the days are getting longer, the flowers are blooming and here in Seattle we are even seeing some sunshine!  I love this time of year and the expectation of the warmer weather to come.  And just like we need to start in our yards to get them lovely for the summer months, we have to start weeding out and planting new items in our skin care routine so our faces look lovely as well!

We’ve been exfoliating and super moisturizing our faces for the last 4-6 months and it is time to change it up.  Now is the time to prep the skin for summer.  Get your skin into the best shape it can be before the harsh UV rays, salt water and late nights take its toll.  It’s like getting ready for swimsuit season (Try Apothederm Stretch Mark Cream) but for our face!  Now is not the time to start any major laser or exfoliating treatments, gentle exfoliation is always a must, but this time of year is time to nourish and support the skin.  Back off on using retinol every day, switch to an enzyme exfoliate,  get the last of your chemical peels or microdermabrasion out of the way, then add in some hydrating masks, nourishing and collagen building serums to layer under your moisturizer or SPF.  I recommend the Apothederm Firming Serum (watching the fine lines diminish) as well as Apothederm Nourishing Serum (with copper peptides and hyaluronic acid). And don’t forget your sunscreen!  I’m in the middle of trying out some of new sun care products and I think they are going to be my go to SPF for face and body this year!   One I select my favorite I’ll let you know.

Enjoy the miracle of Spring and remember to prep and nourish your skin so it looks fabulous all summer long!
